Every year in May, Montevallo celebrates Memorial Day with a community-wide event. This event brings together the residents of Montevallo, as well as visitors from other parts of the state, to honor those who have served in the military and sacrificed their lives for our country.
Events and Activities
For children, there are bouncy houses, face painting booths, and games like ring toss or bean bag toss. There are also craft stations set up where kids can make patriotic-themed projects like flags or windsocks. Adults can enjoy browsing through arts and crafts booths where they can find unique items made by local artisans such as pottery or jewelry. There are also food vendors selling everything from hot dogs and hamburgers to funnel cakes and snow cones. One of the most popular events is the car show where classic cars from all over Alabama are on display. Visitors can admire these beautiful vehicles while chatting with their owners about their history and restoration.
Nearby Attractions
One of the most popular places to visit is Orr Park, which features walking trails, playgrounds, and a creek that runs through it. The park is also home to more than 30 tree carvings created by local artist Tim Tingle. Another nearby attraction is American Village, which is located just a few miles away in Montevallo as well. This living-history museum offers educational tours that teach visitors about America’s founding principles and values. It includes replicas of famous landmarks such as Independence Hall in Philadelphia and Mount Vernon in Virginia. If you’re looking for a place to eat while visiting Montevallo, there are several local restaurants that offer delicious meals made with fresh ingredients. Eclipse Coffee & Books serves breakfast sandwiches and pastries along with coffee or tea drinks, while Main Street Tavern has an extensive menu including burgers, sandwiches, salads, pasta dishes, steaks and seafood.
