The Steel City Jazz Festival has been a staple of Birmingham, Alabama since its inception in 1992. This June, music and culture fans from all over the United States will gather in downtown Birmingham for an exciting weekend of live jazz performances and activities.

The main events at the festival are typically held at Linn Park with additional performances taking place at various venues throughout downtown Birmingham. Additionally, there is usually a large marketplace offering merchandise related to jazz including albums, instruments and apparel for sale or trade.

Popular tourist sites include Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark which was built in 1882 as part of an ironworks complex; Vulcan Park which is home to a 56-foot tall statue dedicated to Vulcan – Roman God Of Fire; and McWane Science Center with its interactive exhibits about science geared towards children aged 4-12 years old. Other places worth visiting include The 16th Street Baptist Church which was bombed during civil rights movement; Kelly Ingram Park where many protests took place against segregation laws; and Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve which offers guided hikes through 1128 acres of forestland with stunning views over Birmingham skyline.
